{{reply to|Yerevantsi}} Greetings, thank you for your interest in helping to ensure that my edits are accurate by reverting my edit. It appears that you may be incorrect on the fact that the Torah does not refer specifically to Mount Ararat. The two Hebrew words "הָרֵ֥י אֲרָרָֽט" literally mean Mount Arrat. (see https://he.wikipedia.org/%D7%90%D7%A8%D7%A8%D7%98) The Hebrew term "mount", as it appears in the Holy Scriptures, is not plural. The christian translation of the reference you gave does in fact refer to Ararat. See Genesis 8:4 (KJV) "And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat." I hope it is not your belief that only the Christian contention of the history of the mountain appear? I understand that the alleged resting place of "Noah's Ark" is a hotly debated issue, but it would be informative to readers to add the Hebrew and even the Muslim contention of the history of the location in order to inform the readers by giving equal time to all sides. As the article stands now, it appears to be a tourist brochure. I hope we can make this article better together. If we can not decide on the final edit, we can get help by obtaining a third opinion. ]

Hello! I recently worked on a draft for an Armenian man, Sir Vartan Melkonian (https://en.wikipedia.org/Draft:Vartan_Melkonian). == Aivazovsky's name in Armenian script is relevant ==

Hi,

I don't understand your reasoning in undoing the simple addition of Aivazovsky's name in Armenian script and referring to him as Russian-Armenian. Both are factually accurate and relevant. They are also standard procedure on Misplaced Pages. Aivazovsky was born to an Armenian family living in czarist Russia. There is nothing controversial in saying he was Russian-Armenian. Similarly, it's relevant to have his baptized name in the original script on his English entry page, just like his civic name is written in Russian script.

Please explain your logic before changing anything that isn't controversial or wrong.

Thank you. <!-- Template:Unsigned --><small class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 03:16, 8 September 2020 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

I think it's more civil to respond and discuss, instead of reverting changes. But I will still discuss here, which is the right thing to do.

"his Armenian ethnic origin doesn't make him an Armenian painter; he was a Russian painter. His Armenian origin is already explicitly stated in the into; his baptismal Armenian name is mentioned in the background section"

I'm not sure what you understand by "Russian" painter, but his being of Armenian origin clearly makes him an Armenian. The fact that he is a painter makes him an Armenian Painter. The fact that he was born in Russia makes him a Russian-Armenian Painter. This is standard form of referring to the origins of people. See biographical books and other Misplaced Pages pages of famous people. I can cite some if you like.

What references do you have that he can't be labelled Russian-Armenian?

As for his baptismal Armenian name, Misplaced Pages as a standard summarizes key data in the first one or two paragraphs, while still repeating and expanding them in later sections. Again, I don't see a reason for your objection to including his Armenian script name at the top, next to the Russian and English scripts, other than because you don't like it. Clearly his English name is *also* mentioned in the background section, so why do you hate the Armenian script so much ?

Here are his pages in other languages, *all* of which have the Armenian script in the very first paragraph: ], ], ], ], ]. Clearly this is standard. <!-- Template:Unsigned --><small class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 03:10, 9 September 2020 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

Finally, Misplaced Pages is a community-driven encyclopedia. If my changes violate a specific rule, or is factually wrong, please cite what I'm violating. So far, it seems to me, that you have declared yourself the gatekeeper of what can go into Aivazovsky's article. I'm not sure why that is, but until and unless you give specific reasons for violations, I cannot take your objections seriously. Otherwise, I'm a very sensible person, if shown that my changes are wrong or inaccurate.

Thank you for understanding. <!-- Template:Unsigned --><small class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 02:57, 9 September 2020 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

Stepan Shahumyan

Hi, I see you requested that the spelling of his name for his article be changed, which is something I strongly oppose. His name, pronounced in Armenian OR English is Shahumian (or Shahumyan). It has an H in it. That was his name. The fact that RUSSIAN does not have the letter H does not and should not change that. The common transliterations that were shared were no doubt overwhelmingly by Rusophilic writers, as not many people in the west have taken much interest in the man. In the Russian wikipedia, spell it without an H, sure, but in the English, it should be written with an H, as that was his name and there is no reason to take such liberties with the spelling and pronunciation. --RaffiKojian (talk) 06:41, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Mikayel Nalbandian

On 23 February 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mikayel Nalbandian, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Armenia's anthem is based on Mikayel Nalbandian's poem, inspired by Italian unification? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Mikayel Nalbandian. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Mikayel Nalbandian), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Caucasus Front election result?

Hi. I'm struggling a bit with sourcing the results for Caucasian Front electoral district (Russian Constituent Assembly election, 1917). In brief, I find 3 different results - 1) Radkey (1989), with result only from Erzerum Fort, includes 1,948 votes for ARF, and no votes for Ukrainians (but hints that there could be a Ukrainian list). He also mentions that a "Georgian" list had been in the fray. 2) Spirin (1987) - Gives very rough vote count (300k for SR, 60k for Bolsheviks), but does give names for 5 electoral lists for the constituency. "№ 1 - меньшевики № 2 - кадеты № 3 - эсеры № 4 - блок украинских социалистических партий № 5 - большевики" Notably, Spirin does mention the list for ARF or Georgians. ... 3) and Protasov (1997), available here http://library6.com/books/516416.pdf , stating that SRs got 229705 votes, Mensheviks 20574, Bolsheviks 61783, "Socialists" 10285, Kadets 8640, total 330987. It is clear from other entries that Protasov includes ARF (and almost certainly the Georgian Socialist-Federalists) in the column "socialists" for Transcaucasus constituency, and routinely includes the Ukrainian socialists in the column "socialists". Perhaps he has included ARF, Georgians and Ukrainian socialists in same column? Perhaps ARF and Ukrainians ran on joint list?

Could you check if there is any material in Armenian language sources on the electoral outcome for the Caucasus Front constituency? And confirm that there was an ARF list in the constituency? Many thanks, --Soman (talk) 04:25, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

Discretionary sanctions alert

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Misplaced Pages's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Mount Ararat

@Yerevantsi: Greetings, thank you for your interest in helping to ensure that my edits are accurate by reverting my edit. Hello! I recently worked on a draft for an Armenian man, Sir Vartan Melkonian (https://en.wikipedia.org/Draft:Vartan_Melkonian). Warning

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at List of cities and towns in Armenia shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Regarding this edit, I added the category since the body-text mentioned that there are Kurds present. Notice of edit warring noticeboard discussion

Information icon Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Misplaced Pages's policy on edit warring. Important Notice

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in Eastern Europe or the Balkans.

Aivazovsky's name in Armenian script is relevant

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Therealash (talkcontribs) 03:16, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

Here are his pages in other languages, *all* of which have the Armenian script in the very first paragraph: fr:Ivan_Aïvazovski, it:Ivan_Konstantinovič_Ajvazovskij, ru:Айвазовский,_Иван_Константинович, ar:إيفان_إيفازوفسكي, es:Iván_Aivazovsky. Clearly this is standard. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Therealash (talkcontribs) 03:10, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for understanding. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Therealash (talkcontribs) 02:57, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

Edit warring at July 2020 Armenian–Azerbaijani clashes

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Beshogur (talk) 19:47, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

Can't tell how many times you reverted others' edits. Plus, Pashinyan is not a commander in chief, if I ask, can you revert that? Beshogur (talk) 19:48, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

Suggestion for articles

Hi Yerevantsi. Sorry about the news. It's probably not the right time, but maybe sometime in the future you might want to add articles, or material, on the line of Armenian cultural heritage in Turkey, but regarding other regions with historic Armenian heritage - Iran, Azerbaijan, etc. The article Armenian architecture is partially covering the topic, but a lot more can be done. Armenian church architecture is just a start and has stagnated since 2014. You might know the book published by Jaca Book in 1986 (might have more editions), I warmly recommend it, it's a high-end book and it's surprisingly cheap by now. The photography is highly professional and so is the text (see here in Italian and here translated to English). Arminden (talk) 10:11, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

H.F.B. Lynch map at Commons

Hi Yerevantsi. I noticed that the H.F.B. Lynch map which you uploaded some time ago has been adjusted. Does it still present the original source at the moment? Thanks, - LouisAragon (talk) 20:50, 28 March 2023 (UTC)

Hey! I've reverted it back to the original version since the later changes were all somewhat subjective interpretations of Lynch's map. It's not clear what he means by "peripheral regions" and their borders aren't always clear. (Did he consider those areas part of the Armenian plateau or not?) So it's best to remove all edits and leave it as it was published originally. ----Երևանցի 07:40, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, yeah, I agree. Btw, the third i.e. newest edition of the Encyclopaedia of Islam has just released an entry on Ani. The entry is written by Alison Vacca. Thought you might be interested. - LouisAragon (talk) 21:49, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

DYK for Masquerade (Khachaturian)

On 8 September 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Masquerade (Khachaturian), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the waltz from Khachaturian's Masquerade Suite has been called "spooky" and is often played for Halloween? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Masquerade (Khachaturian). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Masquerade (Khachaturian)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Z1720 (talk) 00:03, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

Thank you!

Fantastic job improving the article on Khachaturian's Masquerade! Very well done and have to add that the work you do maintaining the article on Khachaturian is also deeply appreciated. Incidentally, a couple of years ago I went to Armenia for musical research. The very first piece of music I heard upon entering Zvartnots International Airport was—you guessed it!—the "Waltz" from Masquerade! Anyway, thank you for all your work on Misplaced Pages. :) —CurryTime7-24 (talk) 22:32, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

Lake Sevan

Hello. I wanted to inquire why you took out "appeared in Russian and British sources" from the Lake Sevan article. Now, in my opinion, it doesn't seem clear whom exactly the name was widely used by. KhndzorUtogh (talk) 21:02, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

Well, it was used in Russian and British sources, but not only. Its primary users were obviously the Turkic-speaking people of the region. ----Երևանցի 10:52, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
I thought the editor that wrote this was trying to point out use of the name outside of Turkic-speaking people of the region. Now it's not clear who "widely" is referring to. I think Russian and British sources should be added back, or the centuries should be removed. What do you think? KhndzorUtogh (talk) 22:50, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
Sure, I don't see a problem. But, maybe, it should be reworded for clarity. ----Երևանցի 07:53, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Satala Aphrodite

The article Satala Aphrodite you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Satala Aphrodite for comments about the article, and Talk:Satala Aphrodite/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Proposed deletion of List of Armenian Revolutionary Federation members

Notice

The article List of Armenian Revolutionary Federation members has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Stubbish article which has existed for over 10 years, has a vague scope (what is the criteria for which party members to include on this list?), is mostly content that already exists in the other various articles linked here (especially Armenian Revolutionary Federation), and does not have clear independent notability for a separate article.

While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Could you provide a caption for one of your images?

Hello! I'd like to nominate one of your images, File:Garni temple 2021 drone.jpg, to be a featured picture on English Misplaced Pages. The criteria are outlined here, and I believe this picture meets all of them except one: the need for a thorough English-language file description. I could add one myself describing the image, but as it's your work, I thought you might have relevant information that I don't. Would you be willing to write up a description? Proposed deletion of List of cities in the European Union by Muslim population

Notice

The article List of cities in the European Union by Muslim population has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This list, as a standalone article, fails WP:N guidelines, and would be better suited as a subsection of the Islam in Europe article. This type of listing doesn't make sense as a separate article. There's also no reason for this list to only be covering the European Union rather than Europe as a whole.

In addition, this article is in a terrible state despite years of existence. Most of the items on this list are uncited. Much of the items that ARE cited use information from outdated or inappropriate sources. For example, books (especially decade-old ones) generally aren't a reliable source of information for demographic data.

I propose this article be deleted and a new, higher quality list be inserted into the Islam in Europe article.

296cherry (talk) 18:03, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Orontid dynasty

Can you restore Armenian dynasty on the top first sentence? Since 2006 ever since this article was created, it’s always said Armenian dynasty. Add David Marshall Lang and M. Chahin sources. Explain also that the Orontid dynasty was Armenian because linguists classified Armenian as an Iranian language, the Iranian mentioned doesn’t mean Persians necessarily. 2600:6C50:1F0:9730:BDE5:A7E0:14EE:277A (talk) 04:47, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

Need your help

The user that goes by the name of “HistoryofIran” (who is actually an Azeri Turk based on his edits), is removing almost everything that was Armenian to “Iranian”, specially when it has to do with the Orontid dynasty. There are like 5 sources that state Orontids were an Armenian state or dynasty, that he put under the Iranian sources. Where it says “Some historians say Orontid was Iranian origin”, 5 sources stating Armenian, one of them says it 3 times by David Marshall Lang. He is also cherry picking Cyril Toumanoff, who also states that Orontids were an Armenian monarchy. 2600:6C50:1F0:9730:FDE6:AE5:2C63:E4C0 (talk) 15:02, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Hello.

In the protected Stepanakert article, can you add these paragraphs at the bottom of the "Control by Azerbaijan" section?

« In the following months, Azerbaijani authorities dismantled monuments symbolizing Artsakh, including the Giant Cross and the Eagle Monument, and statues of prominent Armenians in the city, among them, Stepan Shahumyan, after whom Stepanakert is named, Charles Aznavour and Alexander Myasnikyan.

In early March 2024, Azerbaijani authorities demolished the National Assembly of Artsakh Building and the Artsakh Freedom Fighters Union Building. »

Hello can you help?

One armenian editor changed flag of kingdom of Armenia under Artaxiad dynasty to the image of bad quality, can you help to revert back original image? Nakhararakan (talk) 14:04, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

Please answer me because I still haven’t figured out all the Misplaced Pages rules, and I can’t fully prove that Խմբագրող are wrong Nakhararakan (talk) 15:46, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
Look this is how now flag of Artaxids shown
But there are a newer version of this flag
And now lets look to the coin of Tigranes the Great and his tiara
If we gona look to the coin we can see that 1st version of flag is incorrect. Tail and legs are in not right positon Nakhararakan (talk) 06:03, 14 September 2024 (UTC)
Sorry for dragging you into this, I just want you to see it too Nakhararakan (talk) 06:04, 14 September 2024 (UTC)

Reconstructing flags is always going to be problematic. Another issue, how was the background color chosen? Why not just have the Tigranes coin as an emblem/flag/symbol instead? ----Երևանցի 08:28, 14 September 2024 (UTC)

well, yes, I agree, but on the other hand, the researcher Vahram Mekhitaryan did a study where he put the old flag but as 46.71.9.8 saied "the author of this link is Vahram Mekhitarian who himself changed on January 31, 2017 at 17:12 he himself changed the old flag to the new one" Nakhararakan (talk) 10:11, 14 September 2024 (UTC)
and despite this Խմբագրող did not leave any proofs for the old version of the flag except for secondary sources which cannot be considered an encyclopedia Nakhararakan (talk) 12:01, 14 September 2024 (UTC)

And sorry but one more thing, in English Misplaced Pages sayed that Orontids are iranians, which is incorrect, there are probably of Iranian but no 100% Iranians. For example in Armenian Misplaced Pages sayed varios variants wich argus to the Armenian origin, and in somewhere there are many scholars who think that Orontids came from Urartu. And one nore thing, in scholarship some scholars' such as Armen Davtyan argus that Sumerians and Urartuians are Armenians, but this isn't visible today in this articles.
