Hi Raveen S. I wanted to pass on an article I read. It's called and appeared on this site, as well as on here. . It talks about the massacre in Kathiraveli and another massacre in Beit Hanoun. It cites the Asian tribune on one occasion - a site that is hardly a benchmark of credible journalism, but anyway I thought you might want to read the article. I created the initial article about kumar, although I do not anyway agree with his controversial political views, as a person he was a well articulated who had many singhalese friends. I have run into trouble citing sources, maybe you can continue to improve on it. I do not think that it qualifies as state sponsored terrorism however as it appears to be a personal issue with regard to kumars political views by the despicable Mahen Ratwatte. Ratwatte's sons as a whole are a national disgrace and there actions should not constitute as a expression of the sinhala viewpoint. Kumar was towing the LTTE line for many years quite freely in the heart of colombo, this appears to be more of a personal vendetta rather than a state event. ] 14:19, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

:::I made some more modifications citing newspapers excerpts regarding Kumar and tried to maintain a NPOV with regard to the parties involved. Please feel free to edit it, as it needs polishing and more research to make a good article, regardless of his political views he was a good man who as a lawyer defended sinhalese people too sometimes appearing free of charge when he saw social injustice. You have shown yourself to be a good editor and with your knowledge of Tamil affairs you should be able to improve it considerably. Thanks.] 18:34, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

The Internet is introduced after the mid nineties and still most of the news items are not falling into the web-world. == They were all sinhalese my dear friend ==

</div>
It was good that you created a separate article for "Pothuvil massacre" ,as it clearly exposed the true nature of the LTTE agenda.Having said that, I must say, that you are quite wrong in calling the dead Sinhalese fishermen at Kent and Dollar farm, tamil speakers. Negombo may have had, a minority tamil community which became sinhalized. But the vast majority of the "negombo" sinhalese are certainly do not have a tamil origin..Or I could say ,this is actually the other way around.as North and East was predominantly Sinhalese for centuries(Esp East which had a certain sinhalese majority as late as 1815),there is a huge possibility that many tamils have sinhalese origins. I have read an article by an English Gentlemen ,in which he said many sinhalese lived in east became tamilised during the British time..Since almost all the public workers were tamils and they were the ones who were directly had contact with british rulers and tamil was exclusively used in every aspect of life, many sinhalese had no choice but to give up their language(and customs). A sad truth !! Have you noticed that the many place names of north and east are Sinhalese origin ?? --] 10:07, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

: well,while accepting some of the karava and durava cast have south indean root, i must its hypothetical to generalize this to all the people belong to those casts. Actually i've done quite bit of reading about these things, esp the durava cast(there are plenty of books at vajirarama temple),and i couldnt find out a single evidence to prove that, the first duraves or karaves are actually tamils.Thought the fact that, they have come from south indea is true, you have to remember that there is a good portion of south indeans who are actually have "north or central indean" roots.DO you know the legends say that the first duraves refused to disembark from the ship ,unless the sinhalese king come and welcome them personally ?? Also, pls bear in mind , that even in Present tamil nadu, esp in madras, there are many teligu speaking people who dont consider them selves tamil..I have met around 10 native tamils(all are friends now) here, and none of them consider them selves tamil, coz they all have "teligu"roots.--] 05:05, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

:: raveen brother, read your lengthy description at my talk page.well, I must tell you that, Iam indeed surprised and obviously impressed of your knowledge of certain things,which many sri lankans happily ignored for a quite a long time.Though some of your knowledge is flawed ,there is a chance for you to learn some and hopefully I ll get the same opportunities here.
coming back to one of the main issues here, I must again ,should say with confidence that, many of the present day Sinhalese karaves and duraves do not have any south Indian roots at all..Though the beginning of these casts may have south indian origin ,and its quite certain as in the legends and for certain extent history , earliest karaves came from south india, there is absolutely no evidence to prove that they were in fact tamils. Not only were buddhist from the very beginning ,their physical characters were quite of not totally different to that of ordinary tamil people..Please, read the books written about sinhalese people by foreign travellers such as philip baldeaus.He had clearly stated that sinhalese and tamils(malabar) are not only different in the language they spoke, but also different in their complexes,skin colour and etc..And having seeing all my karave friends and relatives,I must say, I'am so far unable to see any similarities of them and tamils..But that doesnt mean, the original karaves were north indians..Why would i even say that ?? Though the migration of north Indians to the south during the time of mugal empire is a known fact for everyone, you must also remember that, there are south Indian people, who have been living there for centuries and yet do not consider them selves as tamils.And, teligu speakers are the best example.Actually, I met two of my teligu friends who are working as IT engineers in nagoya ,last weekend, and they assured me that, most of them do not consider them selves tamils!!
I really hope some day ,there will be a proper DNA test, so we can put everything into rest..And I am sure the test will prove Sinhalese karaves and duravas are quite different to tamils in tamilnadu. BTW, I didnt know M. Karunanidhi is a teligu..But what I know that he is using the tamil racist card very well.We all know what happened to that famous tamil actor ,who had none tamil roots,when he tried to run for an election,don't we ??
:As for your comments of muslims, why would you even think they are native tamil speakers ??!!! When most of the muslims in western coast do not consider tamil as their native language at all !! Muslims in Sri Lanka have various origins.Some may have come from the land of Arabia and some may have actually sinhalese origins..And since they live in Sri Lanka ,where the majority speaks sinhalese and historically a sinhalese land, I dont see any reason for them not to take sinhalese as their mother tongue.thanks--] 16:18, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Easternunivsl.gif

Thanks for uploading File:Easternunivsl.gif. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Misplaced Pages. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vanjagenije (talk) 12:32, 25 May 2022 (UTC)

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
