This hybrid started when one of ] mated with a Dachshund, Pipkin, belonging to ].<ref name=G/> The sisters bred more dorgis and these included Cider, Berry, and Vulcan (who was later nicknamed ], due to a similar appearance), who belonged to the Queen, and Rum, who belonged to Margaret.<ref name=Junor/> Over the years, the Queen has had at least 10 dorgis, the others being named Brandy, Chipper, Harris, Pickles, Piper, Tinker, and Candy.<ref name=Hoey/>

Dorgis have a short coat in a variety of colours ranging from gold to brown to black.<ref name=Bonham/>
