National Primitive Area is a designation for certain protected areas in the United States.

National Primitive Areas are designated by the Chief of the United States Forest Service, which is part of the Department of Agriculture.

These areas are administered in the same manner as National Wilderness Areas pending establishment of their suitability for inclusion in the National Wilderness Preservation System.
