The Eastern Security Network (ESN) is a security organization in eastern Nigeria. The organization is one of hundreds of security outfits that provide security for communities in eastern Nigeria under Nigeria's vigilante law.

The ESN was founded by Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on 12 December 2020.

History

Background

The Network was formed after Nigeria was labeled one of the most insecure country in the continent of Africa and the world. Tension grips Nigerian cities due a sharp increase of kidnappings, an influx of foreign militia groups and the increase of Boko Haram attacks across the nation.

Formation

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, announced the formation of the ESN on December 12, 2020. The stated aim was to act as a regional security force to protect people against illegal activities and possible invasions for jihadists loyal to ISIS.
