Alexandra Pelosi (born 1970) is a journalist, documentary filmmaker, and writer based in New York City.
In 2000, Pelosi worked as a network television producer for NBC covering George W. Bush's presidential campaign. She brought along a handheld camcorder documenting her experience on the campaign trail; the footage was used to create Journeys with George, a documentary that earned her six Emmy nominations. During the 2004 Democratic primaries, she returned to the campaign trail, this time following the Democratic candidates. Her HBO documentary, Diary of a Political Tourist, aired just before the 2004 election. Recently, she wrote Sneaking into the Flying Circus: How the Media Turn Our Presidential Campaigns into Freak Shows, a book about the process of selecting candidates for President of the United States. She has also completed work on a documentary about evangelicals called "Friends of God." It is set to air on HBO on January 25, 2007.
Pelosi grew up in San Francisco, California and graduated from University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication in 1993. She is the daughter of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and, like her mother, is a Democrat.
She stated that her conversations with Candy Crowley of CNN, Howard Dean, and Wesley Clark inspired her to write a book. "Talking to them, I realized something is going wrong," she said of the conversations.
On June 18 2005 she married Dutch journalist, lawyer, and United States correspondent Michiel Vos. The couple celebrated the birth of their first child, a boy named Paul Michael Vos, on November 14 2006 . Mr. Vos regularly contributes well written articles to the Dutch weekly 'Vrij Nederland' on his experiences in the USA.
