Liberation of Taiwan is a term used in the People's Republic of China to garner public opinion for cross-Strait unification, proposing the use of military force to achieve it.
The most radical idea, popularised as a joke on social media after 2016, calls for the genocide of all residents of Taiwan except for Jay Chou (simplified Chinese: 留岛不留人,只要周杰伦; traditional Chinese: 留島不留人,只要周杰倫; pinyin: liú dǎo bù liú rén, zhǐ yào zhōu jié lún; lit. 'leave island not leave people', 'except for Jay Chou'). There is no evidence that this is a serious policy of the People's Liberation Army.
