Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level Request unprotection Request a specific edit to a protected page Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here Request edit |

Semi-protect - Persistent IP vandalism from ISP but different each time Thejermdotorg 06:19, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Semi-protect - Heavy IP vandalism; nothing helpful coming from IPs. Part Deux 06:10, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Ann Coulter (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect, long-term ({{sprotected2}}). Due to incessant multi-source vandalism, the article was on long-term semi-protection beginning Nov 30 (diff), and before that had been on "short-term" semi-protection for quite a while. (As I recall, there was a brief hiatus in semi-protection, earlier last Fall, but it had to be restored promptly.) During January, the article became fully protected, which "overwrote" the long-term semi-protection. So when the full protection was removed, earlier today, that left the article altogether unprotected. Vandalism began again almost immediately. Please restore long-term semi-protection. Regrettably, this article needs it. -- Lonewolf BC 05:47, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Frank Atwood (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect Page was changed to a redirect per Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Frank Atwood and is continually reverted by 67.80.238.244 (talk · contribs), who claims not to be a sockpuppet of RYANonWIKIPEDIA (talk · contribs) despite having the same area of interest and even conveniently using images uploaded by RYAN just prior. JuJube 05:44, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

semi-protect - Probably under control, but 343gspark and 71.109.13.160 have both put stuff there about "Mrs. Legind's math class" and "Scott's backpack". A number of other IP vandals have also hit the page. If you block at all, it probably could be pretty short-lived. Mdwyer 05:34, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Neil Burgess (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect. High level of vandalism in the past several days. I'm less certain that the recent insistance on calling him gay is pure vandalism, but it does violate WP:BLP--Kubigula (talk) 04:08, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Semi-protect. Frequent vandalism in the past several days - all from unregistered users on dynamic ips. Jrmski 03:53, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Kusma (討論) 06:32, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Tom Welling (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect. High level of daily IP vandalism which has been continuing for weeks. Nickels 02:35, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- User(s) blocked. The two most recent vandalizing users (one IP, one registered user) have been blocked; recently, they seemed to be doing most of the vandalism. If it continues from a variety of sources, protection might be warrented, but for now it will hopefully be contained by the blocks. -- Natalya 02:39, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Seabird (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect. A target for vandalism. This request was moved from WP:ANI by PTO 02:27, 2 February 2007 (UTC).
- Declined We don't normally protect the featured article of the day. There should be quite a number of people looking after the article though, so all vandalism will (hopefully) be reverted quickly. -- Natalya 02:35, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Boston, Massachusetts (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect. Many IP's and new users trying to make fun of Boston's recent bomb scare mishap. Aecis 01:50, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Whyville (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect. A lot of new vandalism from IP's, second time being protected after vandalism subsided. USADude 01:08, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

semi-protect. User Shimgray continues deleting properly sourced portion of article. In early January an IP was blocked to keep a single user from deleting that portion of the article. Wiki called that apparent vandalism, See talk page for discussion over the article but shimgray has called it "pure crap" as well as "bad" Same user has also broken three revert rule on that article. Itstotallytrue 00:01, 2 February 2007 (UTC) Shimgray also made it a point to tell me he is an administrator, if the comments he made under the talk page are acceptable for administrators to make perhaps wiki should reconsider their policies. That confrontational and nonconstructive manner is alienating to contributors. Itstotallytrue 01:23, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- Declined The dispute seems to have stopped. Futhermore, semi-protection would not have done anything because neither of you are IPs. I have also given both of you 3RR warnings. Cbrown1023 talk 02:20, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
96.3 Radio Aire (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-Protect for a day or two. The release date was just announced, and IP's are constantly adding duplicate info over and over without reading the article, without reversions the article has the same info repeated a bunch of times. Hopefully this will die down after a couple days, but in the meantime this would save the editors a ton of reverting. Thanks. --Milo H Minderbinder 23:53, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
FiLoCo (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
The Spanish language page was protected due to contreversy of The Philippines. I submit a request to unblock this page as everyone has a right to their own opinion and should be able to state it freely without being prohibited just because another person disagrees with another's opinion. It is unfair and unjust to block a page just because of different expressions of opinion. A page should only be blocked to be protected from vandelism etc. In this case no vadelism is taking place. (FiLoCo 23:47, 1 February 2007 (UTC)).
- Note from another user: FiLoCo is almost certainly a sock of a user who was blocked; the article was protected in order to stop this user from disrupting via IP. Requesting that you do not unblock. See Misplaced Pages:Requests for checkuser/Case/Ramirez72. Part Deux 03:03, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Declined Page is now fully protected due to a revert war. --Chris S. 04:38, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Elena Paparizou (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
I request the page to be unprotected. Looking at the talk a compromise seems to have been aproved by the majority. There needs to be some new things added too (such as her recent award winning) and needs some minor improvements. Wikiwow12 04:45, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Semi-protected for 5 days. Shyam 05:33, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Current requests for significant edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

The current thing says that the block will be lifted on December 1, 2006, but the user page says that it will be lifted on December 10, 2007. Please fix for consistency. Hbdragon88 02:01, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Web.com (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
semi-protect. High level of IP vandalism and edit warring almost since the article (and its related entity Interland) was created in July 2006. Vandals, which includes obvious conflict of interest account Pdelgrosso, have been making the article so blatantly POV that I contemplated removing it per WP:SPAM. Anon editors have been removing sourced statements unfavourable to the company, and having the audacity of putting "rv spam" (sic) in the edit summaries. Ohconfucius 18:26, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Street Fighter II (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection. Anonymous user(s) are still trying to add pictures to the character list despite the fact that consensus has not been reached on the issue and there has been objection to the way this user formats the pictures; as a result, I have to revert the article almost daily. They've started on Street Fighter III as well, but I've only reverted that once. JuJube 18:16, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
