The Hatters is a Russian gypsy-folk-rock band formed in 2016 in St. Petersburg. The members of the group are Yuri Yuryevich Muzychenko, Pavel Lichadeev, Alexander "Kikir" Anisimov, Dmitry Vecherinin and Anna Muzychenko.

History

The group was formed on February 23rd 2016 by publishing their first song "Russian Style" on their YouTube channel. They went on tour in the summer of 2016 in the Wild Mint music festival.

In the Autumn of 2016, the group's songs played on the Russian radio station "Our Radio"

On 22 September 2016, the band published the video "I'm Not Easy Buddy" on their YouTube channel. On 17 September and 19 November of the same year, the band gave joint concerts with Little Big and Tatarka in large venues in St. Petersburg and Moscow. On 7 November, they performed with the Emir Kusturica and Gorgan Bregovich

On 10 November 2016, the music video for "Russian Style" was published. On 28 December, the group released their first EP "Stay True".

On February 2017, the band performed at Krestovsky Stadium as part of the Radio Zenit festival. On the 26th of February the group played at the Litsedei theater for the band's anniversary. The concert was attended by Theater artists Anvar Libabov and Leonid Leikin, lead singer of the band Little Big, Ilya Prusikin, and stand-up comedian Danila Poperechny.

On 21 April 2017, the group released their first album "Full Hat". On 26 April, the group performed the song "I'm Not Easy Buddy" on the Russian TV channel "Channel One".

The band performed at the Wild mint festival again in 2017, where they presented a new song "Kaifman".

On 30 October 2017, they presented a song from their new album "Forever Young, Forever Drunk". The album released on 1 December 2017.

On July 20 2018, the band released the album "No Comments" which had no new songs, but compiled the instrumentals of all songs released up to that point.

On 20 June 2019, a video for the song "Dances" was released, on 1 July of the same year, the album "Forte & Piano" was released. On 23 September, the music video for "Yes, this is all about us" was released. October 30, the music video for "All at once" came out, and on 31 December, the song "Santa Claus Shows No Tears" was released

In early 2020 it was announced that Anna Lichadeeva (Backing Vocals and Percussion), Altair Kozhakhmetov (Trumpet) and Vadim Rulev (Trombone) would be leaving the band. This was announced by Yuri Muzychenko on an Instagram Live.

On October 22 2021, the song and music video for 'I, Finally" released, being the first song on their new album, "Golden Hits"

The album "Golden Hits" was released on 3 December 2021.

Musical Style

The band calls themself a "Russian-Gypsy street folk alcoholic hardcore on spiritual instruments". Their work was influenced by gypsy music, accompanied by bass, accordion and violin, and is a fusion of Romance, Punk, Folk Rock and Ethnic Music.
