Editor's Barnstar

A Barnstar! The Editor's Barnstar
I award Nv8200p this barnstar for his efforts in deleting thousands of unsourced, unknown copyright images from Misplaced Pages. It's a mammoth task. Blnguyen | rant-line 01:59, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks to you

Hi, Mr. Moore. I didn't know where else to say this, so this is where it's gonna be, for now.

My name is Aidan Grey, and I'm the Photography Coordinator for Home&Abroad, http://www.homeandabroad.com . I just wanted to say thanks a million to you. Your photos of sites in the Asutin area (as well as others) have been a great boon to my task - finding a photo to go with a recommended site. Austin is under development now, and your name will appear beneath every picture we use, but you can see your image of the Denver Mint on our website at the moment. I just thought you deserved to know your images are getting seen elsewhere too, and they're greatly appreciated!

Thanks again!

Aidan Grey (you can contact me through our website)

Adminship

Thanks for your comments about my nomination and discussion rationale - I like to think I am balanced when it comes to my understanding of policy and guidelines. With regards to becoming an admin, I would never self-nominate, I personally think it is poor form - thats just me.I also would never ask someone to nominate me, basically it aint any different then doing it yourself.I would gladly accept a nomination if one was ever brought forward.I would like think I would be good and level headed.I did have a couple of tiffs with people early on, but I think I have matured, have a better understanding of the P&Gs and the concept of concensus rather then right or wrong.Have a good evening. --Gay Cdn(talk) (Contr.) 03:48, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Barnstar

On this 6th anniversary of the founding of Misplaced Pages, I am awarding you "My Barn". You are one the Wikipedians that have made the most exemplary contributions to my "home" areas of Misplaced Pages in the past year. Congratulations! Royalbroil 16:58, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Ziller House - Barnstar

Thanks for the beautiful picture of Ziller House.I can't tell you how much it means to have one of your pictures gracing an article that I started.

The Photographer's Barnstar
For his beautiful photographs of historic places in Austin, Texas, and specifically his newest addition to Ziller House. ~ BigrTex 03:13, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Rounin

The images were reuploaded (again). Can you re-delete them? The images were the same, didn't have sources and didn't have the correct copyright information. Thanks. --Howard the Duck 03:32, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Unsourced image

I can see that you didn't noticethe GFDL-self tag. Let me assure you that I am indeed the original author. Please don't remove valid licenses.-- Selmo 03:44, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

You've ignored this message and listed my picture that I created on WP:IFD. Since it's not used here, you could transwiki it to commons. Please tell me why your doing this. -- Selmo 04:30, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Oklahoma City bombing picture question

I would like to know if an image showing a fireman holding a dead baby can be used on the Oklahoma City bombing page. The image is disturbing, so I want to warn you in advance. It can be found here. I know that it was used in multiple newspapers and magazines after the event and the author won the Pulitzer Prize for the image. Is there any possible license that will allow it to be used on the page? --Nehrams2020 04:32, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

The image is described in this section and I plan to elaborate on it further if I am able to use it. Would I use the same license as the Iwo Jima image? I am currently revamping the entire article as I get more sources as I'm trying to get it to GA and maybe FA later.--Nehrams2020 04:55, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for you help, I once again appreciate it. I'll let you know what it looks like once I complete it before I nominate it for GA so you can see if I have everything. --Nehrams2020 05:03, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Spotbill.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Spotbill.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Image:Monica keena.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Monica keena.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Tabercil 23:22, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Image:JuanesCollage-1000.jpg

Hi, you recently deleted this image pursuant to a request at Misplaced Pages:Images_and_media_for_deletion/2007_January_23#Image:JuanesCollage-1000.jpg. Since that image had a cc-by-sa license, and included useful encyclopedic material, I was wondering if you would be willing to temporarily undelete it in order to give me an opportunity to edit it to conform with Misplaced Pages guidelines. The only apparent reason for deletion of this image was that it was a collage, it still qualified for upload to the Wikimedia Commons and portions of it are still useful in Misplaced Pages articles. ˉˉ╦╩ 06:30, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, that collage is now at commons. ˉˉ╦╩ 12:03, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Image:Allison-brewer.jpg

I am not sure why you have deleted the Image:Allison-brewer.jpg? There was an IFD on this, which was added with no edit summary in an edit marked minor, added Jan 21. The debate had since been archived and administrator User:Mecu removed the IFD tag and indicated that thanks to the additional source and fair use information I had added to the page it was likely the "image will be kept around here (provided it's used) for a long, long time". Less than 24 hours later you deleted it. - Jord 15:44, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I've linked the image. - Jord 20:48, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
