I check pages listed in ] to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for ] in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of ]'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for ''this'' article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article. |

The term "Japanese-American" means a US citizen of Japanese ancestry (cf African-American). If Yoko Ono never adopted US citizenship, it is simply incorrect to describe her as "Japanese-American". As a holder of a permanent resident visa ("green card") for many years, she has had the option of becoming a US citizen. If she did not do so, that expresses a choice which should be respected. Unless someone can offer evidence that Yoko Ono is an American citizen I propose to correct the statements in this article that refer to her as "American" or "Japanese-American". ] (]) 09:59, 27 March 2020 (UTC) |

I don't understand why Yoko has accused ] of rewriting history. The article addresses this. ]] 13:53, 8 August 2020 (UTC) |

::No, but El dude brother2 mentions a potential bias in the article and the possibility of undue weight being given to positive factors vs negative. Yoko Ono was, perhaps still is, a controversial figure in popular culture; this is covered in pretty much every reliable source, and she has addressed the issues many times. As far as this article goes, I was always impressed that there is some discussion of the less-glorious points, under "Public image", because it's severely lacking at ] (which really is a whitewash, whereas ] and ] constructively address controversies in which the subject became embroiled, rather than completely ignoring them). |
|
|
::I'll give the article a thorough read sometime soon. It could well be that some highly notable points are skipped over or missing entirely – and it's that sort of thing we should address, imo, but not to deliberately spice the text with negativity. Looking at the ] now, my first reaction is that there's plenty there that is sufficiently "bad". On the other hand, the statement "Her experimental art was also not popularly accepted" is inadequately cited to an AllMusic list of chart peaks. ] (]) 14:26, 13 August 2020 (UTC) |

== Sister O Sister == |
There's no mention of Yoko's sister Setsuko Ono in the article, for completeness. There's no wikipage for her either. She's an accomplished artist in her own right and recently credited John Lennon with encouraging her to concentrate more on art and less on banking. Hotcop2 (talk) 22:59, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
The heading for Public Image should be "Public Image" or "Criticism" either are fine. Putting down "Sexism of the Press" is not appropriate. It is an opinion not a fact and has no place in an encyclopedia. Freshacconci has reverted several times now from multiple user edits.
Additionally, the entire public image section needs work from someone a bit more experienced than me. I don't see how Tony Romo is relevant enough to Yoko Ono that it should be included in the article.
The "Public Appreciation" is also strange to have as a heading for an encyclopedia. The entire section reads like a recruitment for a cult of personality. If you read that section you would get the impression Yoko Ono is a popular person, not a widely despised figure. I don't see how anything is that section is relevant to a bio on Yoko Ono. The entire section should be nuked imo.
Parts of this article come off as written by people that have a massive bias towards Yoko Ono or sockpuppets. The entire article needs to be semi-protected and needs to be edited by a neutral experienced user.
The biggest issue with this BLP article is the lack of verifiable sources for some of the content. An additional issue is that considerable amounts of content seem to be WP:UNDUE. I think compliance with GAC#3b would be obtained with some trimming of low-relevance info, esp. in the later life section. (t · c) buidhe 07:17, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
I removed some categories that were incorrect and/or not applicable. One that would be correct is U.S. Residents/Green Card holders, which isn't there. I tried to find the correct "category" for that. If someone knows how to do that, please do. Hotcop2 (talk) 22:27, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
