MediaCorp TV12's Central was launched on 30 January 2000, replacing Premiere 12.

The channel was a combination of 3 distinct programming belts: Kids Central, Vasantham Central and Arts Central. Previously, Indian programming was broadcast together with Malay programming in Prime 12, while Premiere 12 consists of Arts, Documentary and Kids programming.

Kids Central

Kids Central is the most-watched kids channel in Singapore. Besides bringing fun and intelligent television to children aged 4 to 12 years, Kids Central appeals to the 'kid' in all of us. It is the one-stop kids' channel that educates, informs and entertains with the best in local and international kids programmes.

By providing kids programming 58.5 hours every week, the highest commitment from any free-to-air channel to kids, Kids Central creates a ‘prime time’ for all pre-schoolers, school kids and preteens.

Vasantham Central

Vasantham (The Season "Spring") Central caters to the Indian community in Singapore, providing them with Indian dramas, variety, news, information and entertainment programmes. The station offers 12.5 hours of programming on weekdays and 17.5 hours on weekends, with approximately 25% local programming.

With the strategic goal of nurturing Vasantham Central into a global brand name, our programmes have attained regional and international acclaim in recent years. Ie. The Children's Day Telemovie Special, Matchstick was awarded the Certificate of Distinction at the New York Festivals this year. We are also determined to build a perennial link with the Indian community by conducting acting workshops, training and ground events like Mother's Day celebrations in Tekka Mall.

Showcasing the best in local and international talents, Vasantham's programming permeates a wide spectrum of genres and appeals to the mass Indian market.

Arts Central

Arts Central positions itself as an alternative channel for the masses. Reflecting the vibrant and diverse world of arts and culture, Arts Central aims to stimulate the cultural adrenalin in the masses through magazine programmes, in-depth documentaries, performances, art-house movies, adult animation and short films. Arts Central offers a total of 20 hours of programming per week.

Having forged a strong alliance with the arts community, Arts Central has established itself as the proud supporter of the arts. Arts Central's bold and stimulating programmes not only raise awareness of the arts in Singapore, it also helps promote the local arts scene. This is apparent in our locally produced programme Art Nation.

The locally produced programmes have received international recognition for their quality. In 2001, both 'Hanging By The Thread' and 'AlterAsian' received a Finalist status at the New York Festival, and last year, the I-Collector series won the Runners-Up position in the Asian TV Awards.
