This is a log of duplicate files detected by User:Staeckerbot before it was approved to make any edits.

I (Staecker) have not made any effort to delete any of these duplicates by hand. This is an experiment to see how many duplicates make it through our deletion process unnoticed. All red links below are the result of editors who noticed these duplicates by their own means.

  • italic filenames are files which were orphaned at the bot runtime. If the bot were running with edits on, the orphaned file would be marked for speedy deletion. If both files are orphaned, the one uploaded earlier is marked (when somebody re-uploads, it's almost always because the second version has better naming or copyright info, etc.).
  • files with "possibly not duplicates" were noticed by the bot because they were both uploaded during the same brief timeframe, and had identical filesizes, but their thumbnails were not exactly identical. Some of these are indistinguishable to the eye, and should be deleted, and some are false-positives.

When the bot is up and running, a log like this one will be maintained, only noting the possibly not duplicates images, and images with no orphan. These images would need to be checked by hand- luckily there aren't too many of these. They could further be reduced by ruling out images with different filetypes, and images with different uploaders (I'd wager essentially all dupes come from the same uploader).
