Menglembu is a main town within the Ipoh city area, in the state of Perak, Malaysia. It is at the foot of the Kledang Hill and famed for "Menglembu Peanuts" a brand of peanuts that are processed and packed by a factory situated in the town. Historically, Menglembu and the surrounding areas of the Kinta Valley were settled by Chinese of the Hakka dialect from South China to work in the tin mines. These townships were so populated by the Hakka people that even many of the non-Chinese people spoke Hakka. Eventually, most of the Chinese people in the Ipoh area adopted Cantonese, the main dialect of Southern China as their lingua franca.
