Godara is a surname, prevalent in the Indian subcontinent and in Nepal as Godar and Godar Thapa. According to bards Godara clan is a descendant of Jat king Shivi Guhadatta. Ram Swarup Joon writes that Godaras are the descendants of Goha Dutta, a prince of the Mewar dynasty who was adopted by a Brahmin to fight against the Mohala Rajputs and his descendants come to be called Godara.
