Friends, I got this from a brother in the benighted neighbor to the north, I don't understand the reason for the removal, but I figure we would be the closest project to be empathetic with the problem. ] 04:54, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Subject: Forward: Forward: Belarusian Misplaced Pages-Undo The Removal!!!
Dear Friends, | |||
The Belarusian pages of Misplaced Pages-online encyclopedia, written in the Belarusian classical spelling (Taraskievica) were removed due to the intrigues of the people who support the Stalinist spelling imposed in 1933.
Please ask the Wikimedia Foundation to Return more than 4000 articles, the result of more than 3-year effort, and a valuable information resource, By Sending The Letter Below To: info@wikimedia.org
===Text of the letter===
Dear Friend at the Wikimedia Foundation,
I just realized that the Belarusian part of the Misplaced Pages in the Belarusian classical spelling was removed and is no longer accessible.
The Belarusian pages of Misplaced Pages in the classical (Taraskievica) spelling are a product of more than 3-year work by a devoted team of enthusiasts and authors.
It contains thousands of articles with original and irreplaceable information, which is already missed sorely.
As a user of the Misplaced Pages resources I urge you to reconsider your decision, and to return the Belarusian content in the classical spelling back to http://be.wikipedia.org.
I appreciate your attention and consideration,
Sincerely, | |||

- Description
- This project would aim to clean up and collect articles related to Ukraine, the largest country in Europe not to have its own project.
- Interested Wikipedians (please add your name)

- Comments
- When is it going to be started?? --Boguslav 17:44, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- Basicly anytime. We already have five users, and perhaps more will come... but let's just wait a little while longer 'till more users come and join. —dima/talk/ 17:51, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- Also, while its good to have a WikiProject, this will likely duplicate the functions of the Ukrainian portal (in some ways), so we should be careful not to do that.. Browsing around portals, I came across the Kent portal, which links the portal and WikiProject together.. and keeps some things specific for portal and some for WikiProject, I would suggest doing that. —dima/talk/ 17:55, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- Another thing, is that there is already a WikiProject Ukrainian subdivisions (although not too active, besides me :), so I think that we can probably somehow incorporate the two WikiProject Ukraine, and Ukraine subdivisions together. What do you guys think? —dima/talk/ 18:02, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- Dima, I like the idea of expansion of the existing project from its narrow scope, rather than reinventing the wheel. Would the members go for it? A nationwide project, rather than one for the geography alone, seems much better to me. Chris 23:23, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- I believe they will go for it. There was a proposal at the project's talk to transform it into a whole-country WikiProject some time ago, and no one besides me responded there, to which I agreed... And if we do that, we can move the current geo-wikiproject to a subpage, like Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Ukraine/Subdivisions, as there is some useful information on that page —dima/talk/ 23:31, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- And there are already six members besides you there, and five more here, let's make this happen! Chris 20:04, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

- Well, not all of them are active in the project, but let's start the project page. But as I stated above, we should watch so we won't duplicate the functions of Portal:Ukraine and its subpages... —dima/talk/ 02:54, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Featured Article Candidates.
Is Kiev concidered a featured article candidate? Shouldn't this be included somewhere in the project?...Please enlighten me, I'm new to Misplaced Pages. Bogdan 01:12, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- It's a former FA candidate. If you're wondering whether an article was/is featured or not, you can always check the article's talk page. :-) — Alex 01:16, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- It wasn't supposed to be listed under FA candidates on WP Ukraine, so you did the right thing by removing it. :-) — Alex 01:17, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
