:Hi ], I did not know of these wikijournals, as I have been mostly inactive on wiki the last several years. Looking at the project, I think it looks very promising and in line with several ideas I have had for how to improve the scientific content of Misplaced Pages in the past. I would like to be involved with the wikijournal of Humanities. Thanks for inviting me. I would like to discuss further by email, magnuspharao at gmail - where perhaps you can tell me a bit more about the specifics of the tasks and procedures. ] · ] 09:30, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

I am not active on wikipedia any more, and am not inclined to jump up and fix stuff when someone cruises by a page I once wrote and find some detail they would like fixed at the threat of delisting it if I don't. I did my share of free work on this website. Now WP:SOFIXIT applies.

Signups open for The Core Contest

The Core Contest—Misplaced Pages's most exciting contest—will take place this year from April 15 to May 31. The goal: to improve vital or other core articles, with a focus on those in the worst state of disrepair. Editing can be done individually, but in the past groups have also successfully competed. There is £300 of prize money divided among editors who provide the "best additive encyclopedic value". Signups are open now. Cheers from the judges, Femke, Casliber, Aza24.

The Core Contest winners announced

The winners of the 2023 The Core Contest are announced 🎉. We had an amazing set of improvements this year, and the judges (Femke, Aza24 and Casliber) would like to thank everybody who joined and congratulate the winners.

  • First place goes to Buidhe for improving The Holocaust; very core, highly relevant; their work on bringing geographical balance to the article puts the topic in a whole different light. We also commend improvements to sourcing and prose
  • A close second place goes to Phlsph7 for improving Education from an unstructured jumble into a well-sourced piece of instruction
  • Third prize goes to Johnbod for improving Donatello, a near five-fold expansion with great sourcing and fantastic imagery
  • A tie for fourth place goes to Thebiguglyalien for improving Crime, for a strong improvement in sourcing
  • A tie for fifth place goes to Sammielh for International law, improved by converting contextless listicles into a proper sourced prose

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:23, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

WikiJournal of the Humanities needs you!

Hi Maunus!

I'm the editor-in-chief of the WikiJournal of the Humanities.

Given your experience with Misplaced Pages and understanding of academia, I'm emailing to ask whether you might be interested in getting involved as an editor for the WikiJournal of Humanities. It's modelled on the successful Misplaced Pages-integrated journals, the WikiJournal of Medicine, and the WikiJournal of Science. Our editorial board covers a range of fields and expertise, aiming to cover disciplines across the humanities, arts, and social sciences.

Our approach combines the rigour of academic peer review with the extensive reach of an encyclopedia. Consequently, it is an excellent way to achieve public engagement and outreach while impacting public understanding of complex scholarly topics. Articles undergo peer review and are subsequently published in both standard academic PDF format and directly onto Misplaced Pages, often getting over 100,000 views annually. This enhances the encyclopedia's scientific and factual accuracy and offers academics citable, indexed publications. Moreover, it enables significantly broader dissemination compared to traditional scholarly publishing methods.

The time commitment is flexible. An editor would generally dedicate 2-10 hours per month to a range of activities.

Please let me know if this aligns with your interests, or if you'd like to know more.

Your experience and expertise would be highly appreciated. Fransplace... Let's talk 23:27, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
