OK, last time this was submitted it recieved some flack from a Bureaucrat, regarding prior history of renames. For full transparency, I've only ever had one rename and one usurpation done. One was an emergency to the secondary account, {{user|Daniel-Bryant}} (as Essjay had strong evidence to suggest my secondary account had been comprimised, per checkuser), and the other was to usurp the "Daniel" account so I could change my main account (Daniel.Bryant) to it at a later date. The reason I usurped "Daniel" with a non-primary account was that Essjay suggested to me that changing my username one or two weeks before an RfA would be extremely disruptive to the discussion process at RfA. Hence, I decided I'd wait till after my RfA passed to come back and change my main account to "Daniel". | |||
Someone has said to me that the previous interrogation about my renaming past was to determine if I was a "serial username changer" or similar, as the bureaucrats in general have shown an indifference to people who fall in this bracket (I know a couple, but won't name them), and who don't really focus on the main goal of the encyclopedia but rather pretend Misplaced Pages is a giant MMORPG or similar. I think my 23,000 edits and the fact that I recently had a successful RfA should deal with any doubts, and given the fact that I have never really changed my name with intent on my main account or any other (see the usurpation explanation above), I really can't see why this would be an issue. |
