Injuries

In December 2013, while playing for the Fostiras team, Bountalis suffered a serious abdominal injury, this led to his loan the following summer to Anagennisi Ierapetra, as well as his participation in only 7 matches during the duration of his loan.

At the end of 2015, as he was preparing to return to Fostiras, he underwent an operation on his abdominal muscles, as he was constantly struggling in every training session. The abdominal surgery in February 2016 cost him the two entire following seasons.

The season of 2017-2018 he played without problems for the team of Thyella Kamari.

In 2018 he suffered an Achilles tendon injury and in the following two years he made only 15 appearances for SV Mattersburg.

At the beginning of 2021, as he was free agent, he injured his abs again and spent the next two years in therapy and a relaxed training program until he join Jodan Boys in 2023.
