Militaey battle during Armenian-Azerbaijani War (1918-1920)

The Battle of Goris was a significant episode during Armenian–Azerbaijani war. It was part of Zangezur Expedition, broader conflict for control over Zangezur and Syunik, regions that held immence stragetic and symbolic importance for Armenia and Azerbaijan. The battle demonstrated the resilience of the armenian population under the leadership of Garegin Nzhdeh, who defended Goris and surrounding areas against Azerbaijani forces and their Turkish-kurdish allies.
