The Duke of Portland is a peerage title created in 1716 for Henry Bentinck, who was already Earl of Portland. The Dukedom of Portland became extinct on the 9th Duke's death, though the 9th Duke's distant cousin succeeded him as Earl of Portland. The ducal seat was Welbeck Abbey, Nottinghamshire. The Duke of Portland owns the village of Pegswood in Northumberland
Portland, Victoria is named after the Duke of Portland.
Portland House is a house at Welbeck College named in honour of all the Dukes of Portland.
The Dukedom has also featured various Dowager Duchesses of Portland, most notably Margaret Bentinck.
