In 2005, the first anime adaptation under the title '''''Air''''' was produced by the Japanese animation studio ] and directed by ]. Containing thirteen episodes which aired between ] and ] on the ] Japanese ], the story follows Yukito Kunisaki, who arrives in a quiet seaside town during summer since he does not have anymore money to continue on his journey for now. He is on a search for the "girl in the sky" that his now-deceased mother told him about and was searching for too; Yukito has taken it upon himself to find this girl to finish his mother's journey. In town, Yukito meets three strange girls early on named Misuzu Kamio, Kano Kirishima, and Minagi Tohno, and Yukito begins to suspect that one of them may in fact be the girl he has been searching for.


After the conclusion of the anime series, a mini-series which added to the ] of the story called '''''Air in Summer''''' aired on ] ] and ] a week later on BS-i. ''Air in Summer'' consisted of two episodes and was produced by the same staff as the anime series. At the end of episode thirteen of the Air anime, there was a teaser for a special addendum to the series, entitled ''Air in Summer''. The two episodes aired on ] and ] respectively on BS-i. A DVD was later released on ] in Japan.


A 91-minute movie titled ], which was more of a parallel universe compared to the anime and visual novel plot, premiered in Japan on ] ].

This is the complete episode listing for all the animation produced for Air based on the visual novel. The series consists of 13 episodes.

Air first aired on BS-i, a satellite channel of TBS, on January 6 2005 with the episode "Breeze", and concluded on March 31 2005 with the recap episode.

At the end of episode thirteen of the Air anime, there was a teaser for a special addendum to the series, entitled Air in Summer. The two episodes aired on August 28 and September 4 respectively on BS-i. A DVD was later released on October 5 in Japan.

A 91-minute movie titled Air, which was more of a parallel universe compared to the anime and visual novel plot, premiered in Japan on February 5 2005.

Air the movie is a reinterpretation of the Air storyline by director Dezaki Osamu, and is more of a "parallel universe" when compared to the anime/game storyline. It is unrelated to the Air TV series.
