The Duke of Portland is a peerage title created in 1716 for Henry Bentinck, who was already Earl of Portland. The Dukedom of Portland became extinct on the 9th Duke's death, though the 9th Duke's distant cousin Henry Bentinck, 11th Earl of Portland succeeded him as Earl of Portland.

The ducal seat was Welbeck Abbey, Nottinghamshire, and the Dukes of Portland also owned the village of Pegswood in Northumberland.

Portland, Victoria is named after a Duke of Portland.

Portland House in London is a house of Welbeck College named in honour of the Dukes of Portland.

Among the many Dowager Duchesses of Portland was Margaret Bentinck.
