Misplaced Pages editorThis is a Wikipedia user page. This is not an encyclopedia article or the talk page for an encyclopedia article. If you find this page on any site other than Wikipedia, you are viewing a mirror site. - Dear reader: This page is not protected. You are welcome to change it. I will not call your change made in good faith as vandalism, but I will be thankful. However, I might revert it if I do not like it.
I am a Ph.D. student in Germany and a wikipedian since March, 2006. I usually edit wikipedia when I get bored from work, usually after every 2-3 hours of work for fifteen minutes. Therefore, I could easily make some minor and quick contributions but find time for serious work rarely. I try to work (i.e. research work) on all the weekends, holidays (except two Eid days) and very rarely take a day off. It is because I wish to make a difference by getting successful in real life.
I got a chance to spend my life in many cities of Pakistan (more than 10) and various countries. The countries include USA (2 years), Sweden (6 months), Italy (4 days), Denmark (2 days), France (for lunch and will go there again), Pakistan (most of my life) and currently visiting Germany. I hope to stay in Germany for the next 4 years. I can speak Urdu, English, Punjabi, and German (not good German yet). However, I am NOT very good in grammar of all of the languages I can speak or write. I wish to learn Arabic one day (I can still read it thanks to the Qur'an).
I am member of Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Islam and Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Telecommunications. Basically most of my edits come under these two projects.

About my user name
ALM
ALM (Alif-Lam-Meem) is not a random sequence of letters but taken from the Ayah in the Quran (). Muslims scholars are not sure what Alif-Lam-Meem means, or if it has any meaning at all. There are also couple of other such words in the Quran(those are called Hurofa Muqatyat). I have liked the Alif-Lam-Meem for many years, and I wish to create a research-oriented company with the ALM name one day. Until then, it is my username in wikipedia. :)
scientist
There are other ALMs too in wikipedia, so I needed to have a postfix with my username to make it work. I use scientist because I have written more than seven research papers so far. Most of them are published in good IEEE ComSoc conferences (for example IEEE-ICC) and journals, but none of them is significant enough to warrant a wikipedia biography of me. However, maybe some day (soon) I'll have my big breakthrough idea or a miraculous year. :)
What I think about myself
respect | This user respects others' religions and realises that not all people wish to follow the same path. Furthermore, he thinks that others will respect his believes too. Peace. |
- I am not biased towards any nation, race, and religion. I try to judge people on individual basis. I assume good faith towards every new person I meet, because my religion teaches me that.
- I will never prefer to abuse anyone because my religion teaches me that.
- I am straightforward and brave. I do not care if by expressing my views they ban me from Misplaced Pages. I will still express them.
- I do not want to change myself or my user page, even if my non-conforming actions do not gain me an administrator's position.
- I hate telling lies, because lying is forbidden by Islam.
- I think myself a very bad Muslim who loves Islam and wants to improve himself as a good Muslim.
Some thoughts about Misplaced Pages
I love research and science. Hence, when I first joined wikipedia, I wanted to create many new articles corresponding to my interests -- related to computer science, networking, computer theory etc. However, after seeing a few articles about Islam, my priorities changed. I think that articles related to Islam are poorly written and need lots of work. I hope to contribute and learn while contributing.

Some more thoughts about wikipedia include the following:
- Non-religion and non-political articles in the wikipedia tend to be either well-written or improving.
- However, a religious or political article in wikipedia is nothing more than the representation of a view of the strongest group of users. Hence such articles are usually very badly written and they are very hard (if not impossible) to improve.
