Dustin Neil Diamond (born January 7, 1977), better known as Dustin Diamond, is an American actor who gained fame during the 1990s as Screech, a nerdy character in the popular television sitcom, Saved by the Bell.
Born in San Jose, California, Diamond attended Zion Lutheran School in Anaheim. Diamond has kept busy professionally since the popular teenager sitcom was cancelled: He has been featured on a number of television shows, including The Weakest Link, and has participated in a celebrity boxing contest, and professional wrestling matches.
In 2003, Diamond alienated some of his fanbase by filing a lawsuit against the parody website DustinDiamond.com. He lost that case.
Diamond is currently a stand-up comedian and bass player in the band "Salty the Pocketknife." He has plans to write a book about his experience growing up as a child actor. Rumors have circulated that he is the brother of Beastie Boy Michael Diamond, aka Mike D, as well as that he is the son of singer Neil Diamond, both of which are untrue.
Diamond has been reported to be in pre-production of a pilot on the ABC television network, titled "At The Hip," where he was to appear as a Principal in a high school / mystery sitcom. However, to date, there has been zero evidence or corroboration to verify the scant reports.
Diamond currently resides in southeastern Wisconsin.
