Ego death is an experience sometimes undergone by psychonauts. It can be brought on by many years of meditation or the ingestion of psychedelics such as Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), Magic Mushrooms, Mescaline, or LSD; though some religious practices claim to do the same.
It is characterised by the perceived loss of boundaries between self and environment, a sense of loss of control, and the loss of the accustomed feeling of existing as a personal agent.
