The People is a 1972 television film, broadcast as an ABC Movie of the Week. This science-fiction film dealt with a 'cult' of isolated individuals who maintained their independent community, keeping their distance from civilization. Until one day, a young teacher goes to a remote area to work with the secluded and backwards inhabitants. She soon discovers that the residents are actually aliens who escaped their home planet and are hoping to establish a life on Earth.

This film is notable for again pairing William Shatner and Kim Darby, who starred in the Star Trek episode Miri.
