This is a list of banks incorporated in the People's Republic of China, not including banks in Hong Kong and banks in Macao. The big four banks are marked with asterisks (*).

The China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC), the banking regulator in mainland China, announced on 24th December, 2006 its approval for nine foreign-funded banks to start their preparatory work for setting up local corporations in mainland China.

On 21 May 2007, DBS Bank (of Singapore) was given the final green light to proceed with the incorporation of DBS Bank (China).
