Joe Adams

The subject is supposedly a "well known" mercenary who led the Contras, was later pardoned, and is now a friend of Arnold Schwarzenegger. None of this checks out and there are no references. Willmcw 18:20, Jun 4, 2005 (UTC)

Try the cover of Soldier of Fortune Magazine or the St Louis Post-Dispatch.

'Willmcw is a anti-racist activist who is purusing politically motivated deletions of material over an argument over the definition of "white supremacy"

He has made a number of spurious challenges to my articles and I am amazed at Willmcw's ignorance of recent history.

A political take on Adams acceptable to Willmcw can be found in the Progressive March 1987

"Joseph adams, a former marine intel officer, who served as chief of

Security for aldolfo calero, helped maintain a list of civilians marked for
Assassination when contra forces entered nicaragua."

Try an archives search on the St Louis Post Dispatch in the mid-1980s. Adams was the first person indicted in Iran-Contra.

"Owen's ties to Calero are confirmed by Joseph Adams, a former Marine Corps intelligence officer, who trained with the elite Delta Force unit of the U.S. Army. Adams was the security chief and consultant to Calero from the fall of 1984 to the spring of 1986. He lead a team of American mercenaries and a Pentagon intelligence agent on a two-month combat mission inside Nicaragua called "Operation Pegasus."

Books referencing Joe Adams / Iran Contra:

ADAMS JOSEPH

Bainerman,J. The Crimes of a President. 1992 (42-3)

Christic Institute. Sheehan Affidavit. 1988-03-25 (125, 128, 138-9)

Marshall,J... The Iran-Contra Connection. 1987 (271)

Newsweek 1986-11-03 (35)

Scott,P.D. Marshall,J. Cocaine Politics. 1991 (152, 158)

Sklar,H. Washington's War on Nicaragua. 1988 (286-7)

Terrell,J. Disposable Patriot. 1992 (160-1, 410)

He was indicted in 1986, and the online archives the St Louis Post-Dispatch has just don't go back that far. Go microfiche them at the local library.

It is obnoxious to have to do so much work to respond to such ignorance ...

I recommend WillMcw have his posts reviewed for factual accuracy.
