Television episode
"My Best Friend's Mistake"

"My Best Friend's Mistake" is the third episode of the American situation comedy Scrubs. It originally aired as Episode 3 of Season 1 on October 9, 2001.

Plot summary

Elliot takes issue with the endearments Dr. Kelso uses on her, but naively follows Dr. Cox's "advice" and confronts him over it. J.D. begins to miss Turk's company with how busy both of them are; however J.D. suspects a post-op reaction with a patient just out of surgery might have something to do with him. Elliot and J.D. seem to be getting close, but an interruption might make the difference between being friends and something more than that. J.D. thinks he now has 48 hours to kiss Elliot before entering the "Friends Zone". In the end he doesn't get the kiss, deciding to be a friend to Elliot at the time. Meanwhile, J.D.'s fear of Turk no longer looking out for him is eventually proved unfounded. The patient that J.D. thought was deteriorating because of Turk's carelessness in post-op was actually diabetic, and J.D.'s treatment of insulin was actually what was damaging him. In the end, Turk was looking out for J.D. - it was Carla who realized that the patient was a diabetic and had subsequently stopped the treatment of insulin
