QuakeSim

I see that your user page is actually an article about QuakeSim. We appreciate your work writing this article. The article belongs in the encyclopedia proper, however, rather than in user space. Can you explain why you blanked QuakeSim and recreated the content in your user page? — Carl (CBM · talk) 23:48, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

An administrator has restored the article and I have made a procedural deletion nomination, mainly just to get more discussion instead of back-and-forth action. The discussion is here. Also see Misplaced Pages:Guide to deletion if you're interested in a better understanding of that process. Sorry for the initial run-around here.--Chaser - T 01:05, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Welcome! I've added some links above that you will find useful when creating and editing articles. This may be a "free" encyclopedia, but we have a lot of rules, and new editors often find themselves at odds with those who have been working on this project for years. I find that regrettable.
At any rate, I've reviewed your article and your request. Since you clearly contest its speedy deletion – and since the article appears worthy in numerous ways – I've restored the article.
This does not, however, put your article in the clear. Any editor can come along and nominate it for deletion. As a result, you'll want to review the links I've posted above and work to improve the article. You should also state on the article's talk page your role in the project so that any apparent conflict of interest is open rather than hidden. If your article is nominated for deletion, the nomination review process takes five days. This will allow you to continue working on the article and correct problems brought up during the review. On the bright side, it would be inappropriate for an administrator to delete your article a second time without such a review.
If you have any questions about processes, don't hesitate to ask here. If you have questions about the development of the article, please place them on the article's talk page. Cheers Rklawton 01:10, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
I have read the links above as well as gone through different articles on wikipedia. I don't understand how my article is in violation of any of these policies. If you could kindly tell me what I need to do to make sure the article does not get deleted again and what are the problems with the article that need to be fixed, I will do my best to correct it. Thank You. QuakeSim 01:33, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Nothing, it's been kept, hopefully for good. Sorry for this anomolous introduction to Misplaced Pages. Let me or Rklawton know if you need anything else. We welcome specialist contributors in any field, although we're usually better at welcoming you.--Chaser - T 01:58, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

References for QuakeSim

Hi and welcome to wikipedia, I have added a few references to the article so that it is obvious to any editor/reader that the subject has been covered by other sources besides wikipedia (which is the crux wikipedia's notability standard). In my opinion the article deletion was an error, although undoubtedly done in good faith. I hope you'll continue to expand the article and contribute to this project. As long the article's content is sourced to external publications it should be fine. If you have any comments or questions feel free to post them on my talk page. Cheers.
