Controversy
In October 2000 the Chronicle of Higher Education noted that an author of a volume on unaccredited universities questioned the status of Warnborough, while also quoting an explanation of the situation by a school official.
On November 26, 2000 the British Broadcasting Corporation aired a news report on fake degrees, diploma mills, and other educational concerns. It included a mention of Warnborough University
According to Oregon State Office of Degree Authorization, Warnborough University and Warnborough College is "not an Irish degree-granter. Not a UK degree-granter. Appearance on UK registry of training providers does not confer or represent authorization to issue degrees." The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board lists Warnborough's degrees as "illegal to use in Texas" notes that the school has operated from Canyon, Texas and "also has operated in Washington, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Washington, DC." Also, the Texas board notes that Warnborough "claims to be a consortium of institutions with authority derived from those institutions, though the member institutions have no degree authority and claim theirs from Warnborough."
