Goals

1. To create a complete and comprehensive episode guide.
2. To create profiles for all major facets, characters, races and technologies in the Stargate universe, and create a consistent look for each kind of page.
3. To organize all Stargate pages and link them all systematically, making the Stargate database easy to navigate.

Scope

• This WikiProject aims to improve and organise articles relating to Stargate and all its spin-offs. It attempts to coordinate the writing efforts, organize and create standards for making good articles. It endeavours to create a good reference for the Stargate universe in encyclopedic terms.
• Even though all topics will be worked on, this project will make a particular effort regarding the episode guide. It endeavours to create a page for each Stargate episode, with complete information within.
• We do not need fancruft or pages on minor things, such as The Stargate's Third Chevron.

Here are some tasks awaiting attention: Cleanup : Remove original research and speculation and shorten plot summaries to make more room for a balanced analysis with reliable sources. Consider transwikiing plot summaries to wikia:Stargate. Expand : Add real-world information to articles to help establish notability Merge : Find nonnotable or in-universe articles and consider trimming and merging them into lists or more notable articles. Stubs : Expand Stub-Class Stargate articles and Start-Class Stargate articles with real-world information or merge them to parent articles. Verify : Add reliable and verifiable inline citations and external references to Stargate articles. Other : * Remove unnecessary non-free images (such as screenshots), and add or expand fair use rationales for all other non-free images. As a rule of thumb, one or two non-free images per article are not a problem, while articles with more than five non-free images should be avoided. Rewrite character articles to establish notability. Stargate

Stargates, as depicted in the Stargate science fiction universe, are large, ring-shaped devices that use advanced technology for nearly instantaneous personal travel across the vast distances of space. They first appeared in the 1994 film Stargate, directed by Roland Emmerich, and then were redesigned to subsequently appear in the television series Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis (as well as the animated series Stargate Infinity). The Stargate is the central plot generator of these productions, allowing for stories focused on a small team of protagonists exploring other planets and meeting other races on foot, rather than the more prevalent, grandiose "space opera" of interstellar starships seen elsewhere in science fiction.
