On July 7, 2005, explosions were reported at various London Underground stations in central London, specifically Aldgate (at 0849 local time, in London's rush hour), Edgware Road, Kings Cross St Pancras, Old Street and Russell Square tube station, and on buses. They were initially attributed to power surges, but rumours have indicated the possible existence of "at least one explosive device". Many casualties have been reported but as yet no dead have been officially confirmed. Sky News also reported the explosion of a bus on Tavistock Place, near Russell Square, which has since been confirmed by police, reports of explosions on other buses have yet to be confirmed.
