Zachary Justin Parise (born July 28, 1984 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is a professional ice hockey player with the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League. Zach was drafted 17th overall (1st round) in the 2003 NHL draft by the New Jersey Devils. His father Jean-Paul Parise is a retired ice hockey player and is brother Jordan Parise is currently a goaltender on the American Hockey League's Lowell Devils. He is a natural center but currently plays left wing for the New Jersey Devils on the first line with teammates Patrik Elias and Brian Gionta. He spent last season playing left wing on the second line, with rookie Travis Zajac and Jamie Langenbrunner, which is commonly referred as the PLZ line, or ZZ Pop (ZZ for Zach and Zajac, Pops for Langenbrunner, the vet on the line) by Devils fans. On November 30, 2007, in a game against the Montreal Canadiens, Parise got his first National Hockey League natural hat trick. He also holds the Devils franchise record for the fastest goal in a season-opening game, which he did just 26 seconds into the 2006-07 NHL season opener. The only other Devil to do this was Stephane Richer who scored a goal 49 seconds after the start of the game in the 1991-92 NHL season opener.
