Virgin Nigeria is the new national flag carrier of ]. The new airline was launched on 28th June, 2005 on an inaugural flight to ]. Domestic flights commenced on June 29th.The airline's hub is based at the International Terminal of the Murtala Mohammed Airport, ]. Virgin Nigeria is the new national flag carrier of ].

Virgin Nigeria was formed on 28th September 2004 when the Nigerian Government and ] signed an agreement to establish a new airline for Nigeria to replace the liquidated ]. Virgin Nigeria currently flies to four destinations from Lagos which include ], ], ] and ]. The airline is expected to increase its route network to nine by September. Possible routes to be added include ], ], ] and ]. The airline is still in talks with the US government after US authorities barred the airline from direct flights into the United States,reportedly citing Britain's anti-competitive aviation policy. In response to this, the Nigerian government banned US-based carrier, ] which was due to begin operations into Nigeria at the second quarter of 2005.

Virgin Nigeria currently operates a fleet of two A320's and an A340.
