Television episode
"My Chopped Liver"

"My Chopped Liver" is the 110th episode of the American situation comedy Scrubs. It originally aired as Episode 17 of Season 5 on April 4, 2006.

Overview

J.D. hangs out with Turk on one of his rare nights off, resulting in Turk getting behind in his work and getting in trouble with Dr. Wen. The two treat a patient with jaundice who needs a liver transplant from his brother. Unexpectedly, the donor nearly dies when one of his sutures comes undone and he must be rushed to the operating room.

Jordan and Elliot double date with their significant others, Dr. Cox and Keith. Initially antagonistic, Cox eventually converses with Keith over a mutual love for the Detroit Red Wings. Keith spreads the word to the other interns that they can interact with Dr. Cox over sports and their attempts to bond drive Dr. Cox insane.

Dr. Kelso's dog Baxter passed away and he can't help but cry. Determined to hide this side of him from the hospital staff, he enlists Carla to act as a middle man and intercept anyone who needs to see him. When she has to reject the requests of several employees, they exclude her and give her the evil eye.

Turk, Carla, and Dr. Cox are all upset about how much they were forced to endure. On the brink of lashing out against their source of frustration, they each learn how important it was to their respective friend. With the help of the donor, Turk decided against making J.D. feel guilty for making Turk behind in his work. Carla learns just how important Baxter was to Kelso, while Dr. Cox sees how happy it made Jordan for them to be able to spend quality time together as a couple.
