Carl Freer (born 9 May 1970) is a Swedish businessman and technology entrepreneur. Freer was Chairman of the Board of Gizmondo and is now engaged in an effort to relaunch the business and other technology driven efforts.
In his young ages, Freer forged his parents' signature to his benefit, and was convicted of fraud for that. Also, for delivering bouncing cheques in the 1990s using the false name Erik or Eric Jonsson (sources differ as to the spelling of the first name), he was fined €200,000 (£135,000) by a German court.
Gizmondo
Freer founded Gizmondo in 2002, and was Chairman of the board of directors at Gizmondo Europe until he resigned his position in October of 2005.
The company went bankrupt in February 2006, and Freer is currently engaged in relaunching the Gizmondo product, citing a potential launch in 3rd quarter of 2008
Media Power
In 2008, Freer founded a startup called Media Power Inc. In May 2008, a partnership was announced where Media Power would donate $5M over five years to Georgia Tech to further Augmented Reality research.
