Misplaced Pages

My name is Junichiro Hironaka, a licensed Japanese attorney, and I am writing to the administrators on behalf of my client, Mr. Joji Obara. Please be advised that Mr. Obara is the subject of a false, misleading and libelous article appearing on Misplaced Pages at http://en.wikipedia.org/Joji_Obara. The administrators are hereby requested to remove in its entirety without delay. Kindly note that a similar request was made regarding a substantially identical article on Mr. Obara appearing in Japanese on the Misplaced Pages Japan site. In response to my request, the administrators reviewed the article and have deleted it in its entirety from the site. Since the English article contains essentially the same false, misleading and libelous information, it should also be deleted in its entirety. Without going into all of the false, misleading and libelous statements in the article, administrators should be aware of the undisputed and verifiable fact that the Tokyo District Court has acquitted Mr. Obara on the charge of murdering Ms. Lucie Blackman. The article makes it appear as if Mr. Obara is guilty of this tragic crime, even though he has been found not guilty. Moreover, the article implies that Mr. Obara has raped as many as 400 women. This is completely false and not supported by any reliable evidence. There are many additional specific statements that are false, misleading and libelous in the English article.

Examples of statements I propose to delete and the reasons:
1) At opening, ‘Joji Obara is a convicted rapist.’
The Tokyo District Court has acquitted Mr. Obara on the charge of murdering Ms. Lucie Blackman. 2) Under the paragraph of Background, 2)-1: about ‘Korean family’ and 2)-2: about money laundering front for the yakuza syndicate, Sumiyoshi-kai.’
2)-1 describes in detail about Mr. Obara’s origin and other conditions which are specific enough to identify him. Referring to
his origin with unnecessarily extensive detail like this and in the first paragraph reveals sense of discrimination against people with
specific origin. In this regard, this portion is extremely inappropriate and also runs counter to the ideal of Wiki.
2)-2 description about his activities also misleads general viewers to believe that he was involved in the crime. 3) Under the paragraph of Crimes, about 4000 to 5000 filthy videos and 400 women raped by Mr. Obara.
Implying 150-400 women he raped and 4000 to 5000 objectionable videos he collected has totally no basis in fact. 4) Under the paragraph of Trial and verdict, about prosecutors’ failure to prove.
The statements 4) here could be understood that he was acquitted of the charges just because the Japanese prosecutors
failed to prove enough. These statements are based on the assumption that he was guilty, therefore, general readers would think
that he did commit the crime. 5) Under the paragraph of Trial and verdict, about the comments by former prosecutor.
The case against Masumi Hayashi has nothing to do with this case. Referring to his irrelevant statement like this is
intended to give impression to the views as if he was guilty of Blakman’s case.

For the reasons stated above, the administrators are requested to remove the article in English on Mr. Joji Obara from Misplaced Pages without delay. I will continue to monitor Misplaced Pages.
