Sari Galin (Azerbaijani for Pale or Fair Skinned Bride or a Bride with blonde hair) is a folk song popular in the Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, Iraq and Iran. Whether the name "Sari Galin" (the Yellow Bride) referres to the blondness of the bride or moreover the colour of her wedding garments, is unexplained. The origin of the song is also unknown and attempts to tie this song to a single, specific culture have failed. History and precise origin of many folk songs such as Sari Galin could not be determined as they originally belonged to oral folk traditions. Sari Galin has many different lyrical interpretations, in many languages, but the melody remains unchanged. Sari Galin considered to be one of the folk songs that is common for all the nations settled in the Middle East, Iranian plateau, Anatolia and South Caucasus. A translation of part of this folk song:
- You don't braid the end of your hair,
- They will not let me marry you.
- I wish I had the chance to see
- The face of my beloved
- Oh, what can I do?
