Mineiro is the form of the Portuguese language spoken in Minas Gerais state of Brazil. Minas Gerais is a province in the East of Brazil, albeit not with a coast. Mineiro is also the regional definition for the person born in that provinve (female=Mineira). The name Mineiro is from the portuguese word Mineiro with the meaning of miner. In Mineiro there is more reduction of the medial post-tonic vowel than among speakers of Portuguese of São Paulo.
