Two-step garage (two-step, 2-step, 2step, 2 step) is a genre of music, associated with UKG scene.

Characteristics

Two-step rhythm structure is influenced by hardstep.Two-step rhythm essentially lacks the 2nd and the 4th kick drum. The 3rd kick drum of the drum pattern is moveable. Drum pattern can be irregular. Two-step usually ranges 123-135 bpm.

Two-step bass is influenced by soul and funk.

Two-step almost essentially features house-style vocals or vocals in the style of contemporary r&b. It is usual for two-step to cut a-capella into pieces to use them either to underline the rhythm or as melody. MC's are often featured on two-step tracks.
