The University of Limerick (UL) was established in 1972 as the National Institute for Higher Education, Limerick. Full university powers were granted by statute in 1989. It was the first new university established since the foundation of the State in 1922. The six colleges (i.e. faculties) are:

  • College of Education
  • College of Engineering
  • College of Humanities
  • College of Informatics and Electronics
  • College of Science
