The Cypriot British community, consists of people originating from then Mediterranean island of Cyprus who were born and/or raised in the United Kingdom. They are either of Greek or Turkish descent. Numbering over 430,000 (around 300,000 Greek Cypriots and 130,000 Turkish Cypriots), the Cypriot British community is the largest overseas Cypriot community on the planet.
History
According to the 2001 UK Census 77,156 current British residents were born in Cyprus, therefore the majority of the present UK Cypriot population is descended Cypriot Britons born in the UK. Some people listed as Cyprus born were born in Cyprus to British parents on the British Bases.
