Introduction
In order to nominate yourself or another editor for adminship, you must first create an RfA subpage for the nominee. This page will be created automatically when you follow the instructions in the appropriate section below, and you will be taken directly to this page when you click the nomination button.
Once this RfA subpage has been created, the nominator must explain on the RfA subpage why this nominee would make a good administrator, and the nominee must accept the nomination and answer the questions on the RfA subpage before it can be transcluded to the main RfA page. This prevents editors from voting against candidates simply because they have not accepted the nomination or answered the questions. It also prevents both nominees and nominators from being embarassed when a nomination is declined.
Finally, once the nomination has been accepted and the questions answered, any editor (including the nominator or the nominee) can link it to the RfA page. This is done by simply by adding the template provided at the bottom of this page (with the nominee's name substituted for USERNAME) to the RfA page. Ideally, the nominee should do this, as the nominee will be the first to know when the questions have been answered to his or her satisfaction.
To nominate yourself
- Replace
USERNAME
with your user name in the box below - Edit the resulting page, removing the <nowiki> and </nowiki> and following the instructions to fill in the nomination.
- Save that page, and then edit this page, adding the following text above the most recent nomination (replacing USERNAME with your name):
{{Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/USERNAME}} ----
To nominate someone else:
- Replace
USERNAME
with the user name of the person you wish to nominate in the box below - Edit the resulting page, removing the <nowiki> and </nowiki> and following the instructions to fill in the nomination.
- Notify the user you are nominating them on his/her user talk page, and include a link to the page you just created (Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/USERNAME). You may choose to inform them by placing the RfA nomination template on their talk page, which will automatically contain a link to their nomination page.:
{{subst:RfA-nom|YOUR USERNAME}}
- Do not add the RfA to Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship yet.
What to do if you are nominated:
- Go to your RfA subpage, and either accept or decline your nomination. If you decline, be sure to inform your nominator.
- After you accept your nomination, make sure to answer the standard questions for all candidates.
- Change the time on your RfA page to indicate the current time.
- Edit this page and add the following text above the most recent nomination (replacing USERNAME with your name):
{{Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/USERNAME}} ----
