#'''Oppose''' If we were terribly short on admins, Cool Cat would likely be high on my list of people I'd change my vote over with certian conditions (such as he not be involved in certan subject areas). Since we are not short admins, I see no need to admin someone whom we have to place conditions on their adminship. So it is with regret that I oppose the adminship of a hardworking editor whos only crime is a few blind spots. --] 20:54, 23 October 2005 (UTC) | |||

Cool_Cat (talk · contribs) – Cool Cat removes vandalism a lot and has worked on a bot to find vandalism. As an admin Cool Cat could protect pages that are vandalised a lot. Revert vandalised pages faster and ban users that keep vandalising after warnings ☺Adam1213☺ Talk+|WWW 09:44, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:
I decline. Thank you for your kind nomination but I do not believe I will ever qualify to what it takes to be an admin. --Cool Cat 11:40, 23 October 2005 (UTC)As per Nlu's request, however I do not think this will work ;) --Cool Cat 19:10, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
Support
- 'I strongly support' Cool_cat for the reasons that I nominated him. 'I dont know anyone that should be an admin more than cool cat.' I think that there will be a total of 2 votes against him 30+ supporting. Please have a look at cool_cat's edits and his talk page and you will see why he should be an admin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adam1213 (talk • contribs)
- Strong support. Does way to much anti vandal work not to be an admin. What is everyone so afraid he's going to do if he is one? Sasquatcht|c 18:44, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Support. I know that he has declined but I hope he would reconsider. Some might consider him "not admin material," pointing to his fiery temper and the such. In my opinion, that is exactly what makes him admin material; admins have to be decisive and willing to act against vandalism. --Nlu 18:51, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Support - great vandal fighter, would use rollback wisely. I'll admit he's not perfect, but he's not the kind of person that would abuse admin powers, so I don't see why it would matter. --Phroziac 19:38, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Support very strongly I have nominated him before. V/M

- Support. Cool Cat's got a grand idea in CVU, has amassed an impressive number of good edits, and unfortunately makes lots of typos, but who cares? Typos aren't related to vandal fighting, as far as I know. Just needs to eliminate mood swings. Don Diego 20:31, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

Oppose
- Oppose, of course; not admin material. — Davenbelle 09:53, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- This user is definitely adm. material, he has over 12,000 edits and is one of the most dedicated users I know. V/M
20:05, 23 October 2005 (UTC)- A high number of edits doesn't in itself make anyone admin material. -- Karl Meier 20:36, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- I agree with Karl on this one. Edit count means nothing. --Phroziac 20:44, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

- Oppose - user demonstrates a lack of thick skin, and an unfortunate tendency towards militarism. Snowspinner 20:10, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Regretfully oppose. Does not have the requisite temperament to be an admin. Kelly Martin 20:11, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose. Agree with Snowspinner and Kelly Martin. Carbonite | Talk 20:14, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose. According to an ArbCom decision, the user is PoV editing , and is - for good reasons - restricted by the ArbCom in a number of ways. Cool Cat is not in any way admin material. -- Karl Meier 20:32, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose due to the recent ArbCom decision and his behavior with the "Counter Vandalism Unit." Zach (Sound Off) 20:33, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose. This guy is completely the opposite of what an admin should be. Yesterday he said he was leaving Misplaced Pages due to a spat with Snowspinner. He was also involved in an RfC and an RfAr earlier this year. Not only is he a terrible mediator, but he has caused huge edit wars about Kurdish groups and accused almost everyone in #wikipedia of either being "out to get him" or trolling. This guy has constantly exhibited childish behavior every time I've run into him. He may have a ton of edits, but he's also been very disruptive. I would vote for SPUI before CoolCat. AngryParsley 20:37, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose I find CoolCat quite a cool fellow. Unfortunately, he seems to be engrossed in a number of POV wars related to Turkey and the Kurds. He lacks equanimity. Also, I don't quite like the militaristic "counter vandalism unit". My impression is that he will make a find administrator some day, but that currently this is premature. David.Monniaux 20:45, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose. While a good user, and someone who would do well with the tools, I'm concerned about the CVU, and I think his temperament is too negative. Ral315 (talk) 20:49, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

Neutral
- Neutral Support- if it weren't for the Arbcom business, I would have no problem supporting CC, since my experiences working on the Oh My Goddess! article and on IRC have been uniformly positive. --Maru (talk) 20:51, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
- A. Vanndal fighting. I do not want to venture into other areas just yet. I just want to be able to block sockpuppets of User:MARMOT and be able to edit my userpage (which got vandalised about 466 times so far) when its protected. --Cool Cat 19:18, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Misplaced Pages, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A.
- Starfleet Ranks and insignia: First complete page. I think it looks beultifull and is informative. I do not deserve all oif the credit User:Husnock deserves a greater credit and it was very very pleasant to work with him.
- Ranks and Insignia of NATO: This was a did on my own. I never completed the Navy and Air Force etc ranks as this requires overwhelming time for just one user to handle (with over 1000 images that need to be uploaded). If I am offered assistance of course it can be done :)
- Southeastern Anatolia Project Written from scratch. Looks nice and is informative. I'd like to note there was a copyvio contravercy regarding this.
- Misplaced Pages:Counter Vandalism Unit With about 50+ members I think this is a sucessfull ongoing project. I created it initialy just to paste my IRC vandal detection bot and gave the bot a fancy name: Counter Vandalism Unit. Essjay and several others gave the idea to make this more of a gathering ground. I think its nice.
- Oh My Goddess!. I reorganised it and added sections in manyways redid the whole thing. I had some assistance as well, it was pleasant to work with other people.

- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A. I havent been writing articles recently primarily because of my on going dispute with Davenbelle and Karl Meier (Stereotek). Nature of this dispute as far as Arbcom is concerned is avalible at: Misplaced Pages talk:Requests for arbitration/Coolcat, Davenbelle and Stereotek. --Cool Cat 19:18, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
