In the UK a trustee is an unpaid volunteer who undertakes fiducary responsibilites on behalf of a charity, subject to the provisions of the Charities Act 1993 and regulated by the Charities Commission.
The word trustee is also a legal term used to refer to a body that is entrusted with the administratrion of property on behalf of another. The Trustee Delegation Act 1999 specifically covers matters to do with land. Other legislation that covers this area includes the Trustee Act 1925 and Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996
