Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is an Indian television drama-series that airs on STAR Plus. The series premiered on January 12,2009, and airs every Monday - Friday at 9:30pm IST. The story is based on the concept of arranged marriage in the Indian culture, which portrays how the two unknown individuals get tied for a lifetime by the knot of holy matrimony by their elders.
Plot
The story is of a girl named Akshara, who is born into a traditional Marwari family - the Maheshwari family of Udaipur. Despite being born in a rich family, Akshara is very simple and knows that her marriage will happen with the consent of her parents and family. Like most other young girls, Akshara also fantasizes her prince charming to be a film star or some celebrity, but distants herself from falling in love before marriage because she doesn't want to hurt her parents' feelings.
The whole family loves Akshara very much and one vary day, they set up her alliance with a deserving boy of their community. Although she willingly accepts her marriage with Naitik, whom her parents have chosen as her life partner, she realizes that their relationship is not like any of the romantic notions she had nurtured in her heart about her future husband. Nevertheless, her mother expalins that she will gradually fall in love with her husband. And, as they get to know each other more and more and learn to adapt themselves to their life partner, love will surface and they will find their bonds strengthened by it.
Keeping her mother's words in mind, Akshara then begins the journey of discovery of her new life wondering if life is really the miracle that her mother proposes it is. Now the question remains that will Akshara be able to find love in her new relationship?
