I've added a sourced line to the lede and removed the unsourced one. Given Bill Viola's place in the history of electronic media I realize my addition somewhat understates his position in the art world and is a step down from the sentence I removed . I hope to do some work on this article and hopefully can add material that will explain Viola's position without becoming grandiose in any way.(] (]) 19:39, 25 February 2009 (UTC))

:I like the change. Better to err on the side of understatement and documentation on such a subjective issue as his stature in the art world. These things go through fashions, and the whole point of art should be to get past that. ] (]) 19:28, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Bedside reading materials?!?!?
I'm removing the section about what he keeps on his night table. It's frankly embarrassing to see something that self-celebratory in Misplaced Pages, and neither Mr. Viola nor probably anyone intimately familiar with his bedroom should be editing this page. No reason to believe it was someone "intimately familiar with his bedroom". User:Sal29 added it based on this interview; he or she failed to use a ref tag to clearly cite it. But I agree that it doesn't really fit in the article. --dave pape (talk) 22:46, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
