KFVS-TV, channel 12, is the CBS affiliate serving the Paducah, Kentucky area. The station is licensed to Cape Girardeau, Missouri. It does not broadcast in stereo. It is owned by Raycom Media, and it signed on the air on October 3, 1954. It is co-owned with WQTV-LP, which airs UPN programming.
KFVS is part of the Paducah–Cape Girardeau–Harrisburg TV market and covers southeastern Missouri, southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and northwestern Tennessee.
KFVS has a very unusual viewing area. The signal can be received very clearly in 4 counties in the St. Louis DMA. KFVS is carried on cable in 5 counties. KMOV in St. Louis takes viewers from KFVS in the 6 counties where both can be received. KFVS once served more counties than it does today. KFVS must use satellites for live reports more than 20-50 miles from the studio in Cape Giradeau.
